  • Questions and answers — When you ask questions through our web chat or WhatsApp, we store your questions and the AI-generated answers to improve our service and provide conversation history.
  • Shared content — If you share a chat response, we create a public link that others can view. The shared content may include your question and the AI answer.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Session identifier — We generate a unique session ID (e.g., web_1234-...) stored in your browser's localStorage to keep your conversation separate from other users. This is not linked to your identity.
  • Device and browser information — For web users, we may collect: browser type, operating system, screen size, language preference, and device type (mobile/desktop). This helps us improve our service and support.
  • Language preference — We store your language choice (English or Swahili) in localStorage.
  • Theme preference — We store your dark/light mode preference in your browser.

2.3 WhatsApp Users

For users who interact via WhatsApp, we receive your phone number from Meta's WhatsApp Business API. We hash this identifier for storage and do not associate it with personally identifiable information in our analytics. Your messages are processed through our servers and Meta's infrastructure.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

  • OpenAI — Your questions are sent to OpenAI for processing (translation, embedding, and answer generation). OpenAI's privacy policy applies to their handling of this data.
  • Meta / WhatsApp — If you use WhatsApp, your messages are processed through Meta's infrastructure. Meta's privacy policy applies.
  • Database and hosting — We store data on secure cloud infrastructure (e.g., PostgreSQL, Vercel).

5. Data Retention

We retain your conversation data (questions, answers, session IDs) for as long as necessary to provide our service and for legitimate analytical and improvement purposes. Shared chat links remain accessible until we remove them or you request deletion. You may contact us to request deletion of your data.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and secure database storage. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
